In 2001, to make the holiday season's bowl games a bit more interesting, four friends from Reeths-Puffer High School (Matt Nolan, Andrew Pleasant, Brian Nolan and James Fritz) put together a bowl pool with point values assigned to each game. From this initial 'Muskegon Four', Nolan Bowl has grown into the holiday tradition with hundreds of participants from all over the U.S. and the world that it is today.
